TOYTOWN & TOYTOWN CARNIVAL CARDS

These cards were issued in 1946, and are the ones I first remember playing with as a child.  They made wonderful villages laid out across the dining room table.  Each card in these two sets of 36 was some new building or part of a village (or in the case of the Carnival cards) carnival scene.  Each set had a “layout” card at the end, which lists each card in the set and suggests a layout for your village.

These cards were done for both a U.S and a Canadian audience, and both the Toytown and the Carnival set were issued in Canadian versions.  These can be distinguished from their American counterpart in that they were usually noted as being one of 28 cards, instead of one of 36 cards.  There were two versions of the Canadian sets, one English only, and the other in English & French.  I have listed all three sets (American, Canadian English, and Canadian French.  I do not have the layout cards for the Canadian Carnival sets, hence those titles are only there where I do know the title.  The names of the buildings appear unchanged, except for #8 in the Canadian set, which is the same as Sun Deck House (#11) in US series.  The artwork is unchanged.  While the French/English cards have French and English instructions, no attempts have been made to translate signs on buildings or instructions on tabs into French.
